WHAT TO EXPECT

We understand that you may have never set foot in a church before, or at least not for a long time. Or perhaps you have moved into the area and were attending another church. Either way it can be a bit intimidating. What are they like? What do they wear? How long does it go for?

At Byford Baptist, we come from all walks of life, backgrounds, social status and nations. We all get along because of our love and trust that we put into Jesus Christ. We are not particularly a suit-and -tie-wearing type of church, so feel free to come as you are.

Our service starts at 9:30am and finishes around 11am, and includes singing, praying and a sermon. Afterwards we spend time together with a hot drink and sharing life.

We do meet with purpose and a person, and that Person is Jesus Christ. With that in mind we want to please God and what he has set out in his book called the Bible. So we aim for the following:

Meaningful Worship - We are committed to glorifying God and celebrating His grace together on Sundays. Our desire is to respond to God's grace to us in Jesus through singing songs full of the Good News, hearing God's word read and taught, praying together, and giving and serving together.

Biblical Preaching - We place a high value on hearing God's word taught to us and our goal is to apply it to our lives in the power of the Holy Spirit, so we can live it out day-by-day. Preaching is therefore central to what we do when we gather for worship.

Loving Community - Though never perfect, we aim to serve one another in love, genuinely caring for others and encouraging one another’s growth in understanding and appreciation of God's love in Jesus Christ.
